Description

The Apostles of Jesus 978-0-89942-285-5

One of 101 titles in the St. Joseph Picture Book Series, this book by popular author Father Lovasik S.V.D, provides children with simple descriptions of the Apostles of Jesus Christ. The Apostles of Jesus were twelve special friends chosen by Jesus to help Him spread God's message of love and forgiveness. Each Apostle left their regular lives behind to follow Jesus, and they traveled with Him, listened to His teachings, and witnessed His miracles. These twelve men were very important because, after Jesus returned to Heaven, they continued His work, teaching people about God and building the early Church.
The Apostles had different backgrounds, but they shared a strong love for Jesus. Peter was a fisherman who became the leader of the Apostles and the first Pope. Andrew, Peter's brother, was also a fisherman who brought others to meet Jesus. James and John, brothers known as the "Sons of Thunder," were very close to Jesus and saw many of His miracles. Matthew was a tax collector, showing that Jesus calls people from all walks of life.
Other Apostles included Thomas, who learned to trust Jesus even when he doubted, and Philip and Bartholomew, who told people about Jesus' amazing works. Simon, Thaddeus (or Jude), and James the Less were also chosen to help spread the Good News. Finally, Judas Iscariot was an Apostle who betrayed Jesus, but he was replaced by Matthias after Jesus returned to Heaven.
The Apostles were brave and faithful, even when facing dangers. They show us how to follow Jesus and share His love, reminding us that we, too, can be disciples by living and sharing God's message every day.
