Description
Ann Radcliffe (1764-1823) veröffentlichte ab 1789 mehrere Romane ("Gothic Novels"), die am Markt erfolgreich waren: u.a. "Die Burgen von Athlin". 1795 wurde ihr Reisebericht vom Sommer 1794 veröffentlicht.Ihr Reisebericht ist konventionell. Wegen der Sprachbarriere ist sie auf das angewiesen, was sie sieht. Sehr aufschlussreich und informativ sind allerdings die Abschnitte von der Eroberung Mainz' im Jahre 1792 und der Rückeroberung 1793.
