A murderer roams the halls of the Purator's academy.

A year after a fire destroyed her beloved academy, Rynlee Nalis is desperate to rebuild and keep the people she loves safe. But after an incident that was no one's fault, a blackmailer has come forward to force her to do his bidding. Her actions put a wedge between her and her best friend, Cherylt.

When people start dying, Rynlee has to find out who's responsible. Then Cherylt meets a man who can do the impossible: defeat demons without Purator training, with a mysterious magic she's never seen before. As Rynlee and Cherylt both do their best to keep people safe and navigate the intrigue happening at the academy, they keep growing farther apart.

When they find out why the murderer is killing, they must race against an evil plot that could mean the end of everything they've known.
