This overview of issues pertinent to case management in the social services illustrates the diversity of innovative approaches which have been developed. These include: new forms of outreach and assessment; alternative methods for engaging family members and natural supports; and strategies attuned to the needs of culturally diverse constituencies.
The degree to which existing services are available to meet clients′ needs, and variations in service philosophies and resources are among the issues discussed. Examples from many practice settings illustrate the adaptability of case management.
