The main couple in this story is General Peter Miller, five star general in charge of all military forces, and his wife Lisa, the wealthiest person in the world and owner of Fcomm, the leading defense contractor.
The General's primary mission was saving humanity but has changed to protect the Universe, but he can't tell anybody about his new mission.

Just when everyone thought that they had created nirvana, everything falls apart.
Attempted murders and alien invasions make for a bad day. One of the most crucial people in the world disappears.
The General must make decisions that not only affect the entire world but the entire universe.
