It is the middle of the night in a Miami police station and an interracial couple, Kendra and Scott, are anxiously waiting for news about the whereabouts of their teenage son Jamal. An inexperienced officer, keen to stick to protocol, is being vague and is only able to tell them that Jamal has been "identified in an incident".
The play explores themes of race, identity, and systemic bias as tensions rise between Kendra, an African American mother, and Scott, her white FBI agent ex-husband, while they confront their differing perspectives on raising a Black son in America.
