Angel no longer fretted what might have been, just took the turnings and windings of life as they turned and wound around her. If she daydreamed it was about planting a new rose bush and whether it would fit best in her yard or in one of her landscape clients yards where she could tend it and enjoy it just the same. Then Lois, her best friend and best client planted a statue of St. Joseph, "To bring the right buyer." It was past time for Lois to moved left the old house to someone else's care but her children preferred portraits of dead presidents to a big house.
It didn't change Angel's plans much. People appealed for saints' favors many times and for many reasons not to much noticeable change. Another family would take over the lawn and garden and probably need the same landscape services she offered Lois. She would meet the newcomer, gain a new customer and life would go on the way it had been going on.
Then Richard arrived.
"I need a woman!" he bellowed from the patio.
That was an unexpected first impression.
