Description

This monograph presents Bente Skjøttgaard's experimentalwork with clay and glaze, spanning nearly 40years and unfolding a wide range of themes, ofteninspired by nature. Danish ceramic artist BenteSkjøttgaard is particularly known for her glaze work. Shebalances on the edge of what is possible, and her explorationsevolve into large amorphous nature abstractions, generously glazed. With essays by acclaimed experts inthe field such as Christine Germain-Donnat and GarthJohnson as well as artist colleague Martin BodilsenKaldahl, and an additional 'photo novel' describing thebackground and process through images and narrativetext, this lavishly illustrated volume sheds light on oneof the important figures in the rich ceramicist scene inDenmark.

Bente Skjøttgaard (*1961) is a Danish ceramic artist based in Frederiksberg/Copenhagen. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and for the past 20 years, she has been associated with Galerie Maria Lund in Paris.
