After yet another restless night of having the same recurring nightmare in his sleep, featuring a mysterious woman and a giant python in a bloodcurdling dreamscape, Iweka decided he had endured enough and sought out the shrine of the priest of the gods.
All he got were more questions than answers. Answers that were waiting for him beyond the hills, a place to encounter the gods of his land and ancestors.
Before he could embark on his quest for answers, he was set back by the vengeful king of his village who wanted Iweka assassinated for seeing the Princess Ajamma, the king's only daughter.
However, the princess had fallen for Iweka and she couldn't bear to see him killed, forcing her to disobey her father's command to stop seeing Iweka.
After unsuccessful attempts by the king to have them both murdered, Iweka had to flee Igodomigodo, his hometown and sought asylum in the neighboring village of Akatagwu with the princess.
But Iweka's travails was just about to begin. When the slave traders visited Igodomigodo, Iweka's estranged village, the king invaded the village of Akatagwu and overpowered them with the sophisticated weapons of the slave traders.
Iweka was among the captured and was bundled on a slave ship along with other captives and forced on a humiliating journey across the ocean to a decidedly terrible future.
Will Iweka be able to find a way to escape his captivity and return to his homeland to fulfill his purpose as the child of prophecy?
