Description

JANUS, the Roman god of gates and doors who could see into past and future at the same time. How appropriate for an author who takes the past history of life and extrapolates it into the future! Looking into the past we see the evolution of life through the ages, from sea-living microbes to jellies, fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals to Man, from barely perceptible consciousness to that of human beings. How natural to extend the process into future eons and ask: will life reach a stage of Ultimate Consciousness? The author answers that it will; the purpose of the Universe is to have life evolve into that consciousness. Our moral systems seek to direct humanity toward that fulfillment. Without them we are left to the decay of time and inevitable regression back to the animal. Cosmos Theology is the science-based theology of pantheism: the religion of the Cosmos. Here is revealed the purpose of the Universe and life within it. No reference is made to mystical cause. We live in a natural Universe with natural causes for either good or evil that require no supernatural explanation, and as inhabitants of this Universe we are duty bound to believe only what is within our realm of experience. A world based on this principle will be a much saner world, which we can look forward to one day achieving when humanity is governed by it in unity.
