Description

Feel free to use or adapt any of this wide-ranging bundle of dramas and creative poetry designed for theatrical presentations. You will find a wealth of honesty, humour, bravery, faith and significant moments of life. I wrote most of this material during my thirty years as a teacher and coached my pupils to perform items for gatherings and special occasions, sometimes for adult audiences and sometimes for younger or older children. You may perform, modify, rewrite or just borrow ideas from what I've included here. There's no need to make any form of payment or even acknowledge my authorship. It's all totally free! If you work with groups of young children, teenagers or adults, you can find inspiration from the scripts in this book. For instance, "Daniel in the Lions' Den" could be performed by a sizeable group or just a minimal number of actors. "Lost and Found" has a trio of stories with a common theme. There is a repeating refrain, which can be spoken or set to a simple little melody and sung by a choir. 'Alphalliteration' is a fun poem of 26 lines, in which each letter of the alphabet features prominently in sequence. This is best performed by one individual reciting from memory! If you're migrating to Australia, you could sing 'Goodbye Gloucester' to the tune of the Beatles' 'When I'm Sixty-four, ' but substitute the name of your own town! The title, 'A Fair Old Mess' is a pun on 'Pharaoh, ' who treated his Hebrew slaves so harshly. This sketch dramatizes a serious chunk of Egyptian history with a sprinkling of childish humour. Many different ways of enjoying yourself are critically examined in 'How To Have A Happy Life, ' which is a conversational poem, designed to be recited by several small or larger groups. It reaches a definitive conclusion in the parable of 'The Two Builders.' The lengthy dramatic presentation, 'Birthright and Blessing' features the emotional and spiritual turning point in the true story of the break-up and reconciliation of twins, Jacob and Esau. The wide gap between rich and poor, the haves and have-nots is tackled head-on in 'Need and Greed' with a frightening warning to those who are selfish with their wealth! The Christmas Nativity Story is poetically retold in 'A Birth of Global Significance, ' and could be delivered by small groups or simply by one individual. All these are yours to use or adapt with absolutely no strings attached. Have a ball! To keep everything in perspective the Time Chart at the end is an added bonus!
