In the Summer and Fall of 2021, Grizzly 399 would take her cubs back and forth between Grand Teton National Park and up to 60 miles south, looking for food left by people in the area. The Spring of 2022 is when 399 will separate herself from her cubs, and they will all go out on their own. This behavior was very unusual since she had not appeared to take her cubs into areas populated by men in the past. We hope that she and her cubs will be safe.
Time has moved on, and this story tells of Grizzly 399 and her four cubs' adventures trying to find food in places outside of their natural forest home. The back of this book guides visitors and homeowners on managing their waste or food items to ensure bears do not get into trouble.
Grizzly 399 and Her Four Hungry Cubs is the 2022 Winner of the Purple Dragonfly Book Award in the Green Books/Environmental Catagory.
