A new enemy faction is introduced, known as the Primals. They are hybrids of both shapeshifters and vampires. They are naturally stronger...unbothered by the weaknesses of vampires - including sunlight...and are enhanced in all of the abilities of vampires. Though like vampires, they look like humans. Episode Blight

A powerful sorcerer steps onto the scene, with his own story in play. An expert in necromancy, his strong feelings for an undead woman that he is keeping alive through his own magic, keeps him on track of his own agenda. That is until he runs into Alister, and has the vital portion of his magic stolen from him. The part of his magic that keeps his love interest alive.
