To optimise the efficiency of electric drives it is necessary to consider the components, i.e. the power electronic converter, the electric machine and the gearbox, together. Integrated systems can be smaller and have better flexibility and thermal management. Integrated motor drives (IMD) specifically offer advantages including lower cost of installation and higher power density. Applications include various electrical machines as well as electric vehicles.
The book, systematically edited and written by members from leading working groups, will present the state research and future trends in integrated electrical motor drive technology and fill the gaps in knowledge. Chapters cover electrical machines and converters within integrated motor drives, integration topologies, WBG devices, and challenges such as thermal management. Close collaboration between chapter authors will improve cohesion and usability for advanced students.
