The nine research articles collected in this volume summarize the current status of large bowel cancer research, highlight some of the accomplishments made in the field through the National Large Bowel Cancer Project, and point to emerging areas of clinical and basic science investigation. The Contributors cove recent advances in the new biology that offer promise for real progress in the near future. These include radioimmunodetection, monoclonal antibodies, colon tumor oncogenes, growth-promoting and growth-inhibitory factors, and other advances in molecular biology.
