Notwithstanding the different approaches used, all the papers share an empirical character: they actually present first-hand insights, refreshing ideas and hitherto unknown or unexplored material. They are not only about linguistic and textual contacts, but also contain, just through these contacts, the analysis of theological and philological ideas, which acted as a stimulus for further cultural development, independently of the sympathetic or hostile reception they received among Slavs.
