Description

""Lucia di Lammermoor"" is an opera in three acts composed by Gaetano Donizetti in 1848. The story is based on Sir Walter Scott's novel ""The Bride of Lammermoor"" and follows the tragic love story of Lucia Ashton, a young Scottish noblewoman, and Edgardo di Ravenswood, the last surviving member of a rival family. Lucia is forced by her brother to marry another man, but she still loves Edgardo and they secretly plan to elope. However, their plans are discovered and Edgardo believes Lucia has betrayed him, leading to a tragic ending. The opera is known for its beautiful melodies, emotional arias, and dramatic duets, as well as its challenging vocal demands for the lead roles. ""Lucia di Lammermoor"" is considered one of Donizetti's most popular and successful operas, and has been performed and recorded numerous times around the world. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
