In the first sequel to Daughter of Orion, fugitive Mira, her life among earth-humans shattered by home-invaders, has rejoined the other teen-aged survivors of her homeworld, Ul. Now, she and they must ready an unbelieving, suspicious earth for the arrival of the Message, a transmission from Ul in its dying days. Mira hopes that the Message, telling of the destruction of ten inhabited worlds by their inhabitants, will move humanity to help her people, the Tan, save the earth from destructive technologies.
Sadly, Mira comes to fear that her alien mentors have led her astray in how to carry out the mission. Mira's past as a superhero -- or is it supervillain? -- threatens to spark war between humanity and Tan. Striving to prevent conflict, Mira goes public, but skeptics among humanity call her an eco-saboteur. Will the Message bring peace, or must Mira and a people on extinction's edge fight for survival against a world that they must save?
