Small-town stakeouts are always difficult, for many reasons. There's literally nowhere to hide. For Dean Sinclair, who's watching an escapee's old girlfriend in case the fugitive makes an appearance, it's impossible to keep watch and not get involved. Especially when the woman in question works her way under his skin so easily. How better to keep a close eye on her than to become the handyman she so desperately needs?
Reva Macklin has made a good life for herself. She has a successful restaurant, a child she loves to distraction, and a steadfast conviction to protect her heart at all costs. The new man in town challenges that conviction. He might be a terrible handyman, but he awakens parts of her that have been suppressed for far too long.
All she asks for in a man, however temporary, is honesty. And honesty is the one thing he can't give her.
