Description

The 12th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale accepts the challenge of organizing the space of our lives.

People Meet in Architecture is the official catalog of the 12th International Architecture Biennale. The idea of Kazuyo Sejima for this Biennale is to restart the discussion about architecture and its role in civilization, thus helping people relate to architecture while helping architecture relate to people and helping people relate to themselves. "With this exhibition"-asserts architect Sejima-"we are given the chance to test the various possibilities offered by architecture, to understand how it meddles with the new ways of living in the XXI century, to show that it is the output of different values and approaches. I would be very glad if, thanks to this experience, we could understand what our society is heading for."

The official exhibition catalogue, in two volumes containing the projects presented by all participants - one on the exhibition curated by Kazuyo Sejima, the other on the National Participations and Collateral Events - shows this exceptional richness and variety, aided by Mevis & van Deursen's distinctive graphic design.
