Robert Pip Patterson is the third generation colonials in America. His grandfather came to Hackensack in 1696. They were merchants of dry goods and a tavern. His father had a dream of building a new family estate in the Hudson Valley of New York. Robert Patterson Sr. was a promising young man with the backing of rich merchants and the governor of the colony. He establishes the new settlement of Patterson. Pip, raised on the frontier, is caught in an Indian attack and left for dead. Found by friendly Indians, they nurse him back to health. Adopted by the tribe, he becomes a respected member. Determined to find out what became of his sister, Christine, he organizes a surprise raid on the northern tribes on the eastern shores of Lake Champlain. His is a name to be respected by Iroquois and Delaware nations and hated by the Algonquin and Huron nations of the north.
