Description

"Pop Pop's Magic Chair" is the true story of writer David Russell's relationship with his grandson Aaron from birth to about age six. They were years filled with weekend sleepovers and vacation stays that not onlymade his grandparents feel young again, but established a pattern of Aaron climbing into Pop-Pop's lap to "read" together. Starting with picture books, they worked theirway through fairy tales, then story books, continuing right up into National Geographic's.

"Pop-Pops Magic Chair" brings the highlights of their relationship to life in picture book form, with an added touch of fairy dust to give the story a bit more sense of wonder. "Pop-Pop" is intended to be both a bedtime read for kids 4 to 6 and a self-read for ages 6 to 8.

Visually, the story is graced with delightful illustrations drawn by Frank Furlong, in a style reminiscent of his many years of drawing TV Cartoons.

Meet Writer David Russell and Art Director Frank Furlong

Originally, David and Frank joined forces 30-years ago to produce Animation commercials for clients in the States and Mexico.

Then, a U.S. Senate Single-Source award contracted them to produce Films for the Office of Education/HEW. Later, after completing a film for Westinghouse, Frank began working with "Sesame Street," later, supervising the backgrounds for "Bobby's World" and "Angry Beavers.

David become a principal in a new Effects/CGI Commercial company that not only did TV Spots for clients including the Pillsbury Doughboy, Speedy Alka Seltzer, the Chuck Wagon, American Airlines and Chevrolet, but also the Special Effects for the Fantasy Island Show and the NBC Bible series including parting the Red Sea.

Now retired, they've teamed anew, hoping to publish 12 non-violent children's stories, plus books of poems in 2010 - 2011.. Look for their first storybook, "Pop-Pop's Magic Chair," now in the children's section of Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders E-Catalogues.
