Conversations are with eight top athletes, men who played in the National Football League for at least ten years, and with another who coached football for forty-five years. Stephen H. Norwood, professor of history at the University of Oklahoma, is the author of Strikebreaking and Intimidation (2002) and Labor's Flaming Youth (1990). He is the winner of the Herbert Gutman Award in American social history and the Macmillan/SABR Award in baseball history.
