My name is Helena Basque. I was attacked by a strange wolf that scarred my face when I was seven years old. That creature was part of the Lycanthru, a cult of men who transform themselves into large wolves that can still speak and plan attacks on our province.
I'm only sixteen, but I've been trained to ride and hunt and fight. My repeating crossbow contains silver-tipped bolts that bring swift death to the wolves, causing them to fear me and the sight of my red hooded cloak. Allowing me to rid our province of every last Lycanthru.
Or so I thought. Another band of Lycanthru threatens the neighboring province of DeSarte, an unsettling place that I've been warned to avoid. But the wolves there have taken a small girl, who might still be alive, if I can reach her in time. If I can convince everyone that the Lycanthru still pose a deadly threat.
But as my reports of the DeSarte wolves grow more and more suspect, even my closest friends have begun to wonder if the Lycanthru ever truly existed, or if my own grief had driven me insane. I've warned them that this was what the Lycanthru wanted us to think. But can I prove my innocence in time to save the girl, my friends, or even myself?
