The world of Threigsinn was shaped by thoughts and abandoned by gods who were ashamed of their folly.
Toby Cerezo's debut novel, Sparks of Rebellion, is about a dysfunctional group of teenagers who must untangle their emotions to unite against an oppressive monarchy. Arvin, a young and cynical prodigy, meets an emissary sent by Ferdinand Marioneta, the duke of Sales. The messenger invites him to a masquerade ball with his only friend, Chepha. Their journey quickly becomes much more perilous than a visit to the big city. After encountering a mysterious goddess who tries (and fails) to endear herself to him, Arvin and Chepha are entangled in a plot to stop Ferdinand from seizing control of the human empire and enacting genocide upon elves, orcs, and other so-called Inhumans. As this dire mission looms over Arvin's head, four days of facing long-repressed trauma and teenage angst threaten to reduce his sanity to shreds.
