Description

The Boss of Taroomba is a novel written by Ernest William Hornung and first published in 1900. The story is set in the Australian outback and follows the adventures of a young Englishman named Dick Roylance, who inherits a cattle station in the fictional town of Taroomba. Dick arrives in Taroomba to find that the station is in a state of disarray and the locals are hostile towards him. However, he soon discovers that the town is controlled by a ruthless and powerful man named Dan Moran, who is known as the ""Boss of Taroomba"". As Dick tries to establish himself in the town, he becomes embroiled in a power struggle with Moran and his gang of outlaws. Along the way, he falls in love with Moran's daughter, Nell, and must navigate the complicated relationships between the various characters in the town. The novel is a classic tale of adventure and romance, with plenty of action and suspense to keep readers engaged. Hornung was a prolific writer of adventure stories and is perhaps best known for creating the character of A.J. Raffles, a gentleman thief who appeared in a series of short stories. The Boss of Taroomba is one of his lesser-known works, but it remains an entertaining and engaging read that captures the spirit of the Australian outback in the early 20th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
