The Chauffeur, a suspense noir by Bruce Allsman
On the penultimate day before his retirement, Charlie, the chauffeur, receives an assignment from JP, his boss, to stake out a sharp-eyed man at a hotel's coffeehouse. After discovering the sharp-eyed man's heinous plan to kidnap Mel, JP's nine-year-old daughter, he returns to report to JP. He and JP, who is always a risk taker and likes this kind of dangerous games, formulate an action plan to incriminate the mastermind behind the kidnapping scheme. The next day Charlie shows up for work one last time to show the new chauffeur the ropes and meets James, who is none other than the sharp-eyed man.
