The road was covered with deep snow that wintry day. The author was occupied with carefully climbing the steep hill with home in sight. Suddenly the thought resurfaced that had refused to be suppressed the previous weeks: "What has the Christmas tree to do with the birth of Jesus?" During that long period the author was likewise impressed with the profound truth that the meaning of a thing is forever tied to its roots, and the fruits will prove that henceforth and forevermore according to Jesus Christ, the apostle Paul, church father Tertullian, and many patriarchs, as well as some highly credible, modern Biblical scholars. Years of research by this author followed, with digging down all the way to the root of the tree to Asherah---goddess of the groves the Israelites pursued that Yahweh denounced as an abomination to Him. Thousands of years of a variety of tree worship can be painstakingly linked and traced from Canaan up through a number of nations: Rome, and all of Europe, from Germany to the fledgling America and via the Prussian soldiers hired by King George to crush General George Washington at Valley Forge. What is amazing is the unquestionable, clear historical trail, both Biblical and secular, that the unmistakable tree idol presents from ancient Canaan, and including its more recent title of "Christmas tree" in America, all included and well documented in "The Christmas Tree - Unwrapping the Truth." Most disturbing is the apostle Paul's teaching that behind every idol is a spirit. As documented in this book, some contemporary Christians have witnessed that spirit manifest dramatically in recent years in the US when it was confronted.
