Ever have a breakdown in a bad part of town? That's just what happened to Melanie Li—only her breakdown is a tired, old space freighter and the bad part of town is an alien space station sixteen hundred light-years from Earth. To make matters worse she's caught between two members of her own crew—a pompous baboon and a prankster who just lives to puncture the egos of pompous baboons. Of course it's all good fun—until the prankster manages to offend a local alien power broker. Then the hijinks really begin.
