The henchman, named Karl, is fiercely loyal to the King and has been tasked with keeping Alisande safe from harm. However, as he spends more time with her, he begins to fall in love with her. The King, who also desires Alisande, becomes jealous of Karl and their relationship becomes strained. The play explores themes of love, loyalty, jealousy, and betrayal as the characters navigate their complicated relationships.
