Description

The Recuyell Of The Historyes Of Troy V2 is a book written by Raoul Lefevre that tells the story of the Trojan War. It is the second volume of the Recuyell Of The Historyes Of Troy series. The book is written in Middle English and was first published in 1474. The story begins with the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, which was attended by all the gods except Eris, the goddess of discord. Eris was angry at not being invited and threw a golden apple among the guests inscribed with the words ""To the fairest."" This caused a dispute among the goddesses Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena, who all claimed the apple for themselves. To resolve the dispute, they asked Paris, a Trojan prince, to judge which of them was the fairest. Each goddess offered him a bribe, and Paris ultimately chose Aphrodite, who promised him the most beautiful woman in the world. This woman was Helen, the wife of Menelaus, the king of Sparta. Paris abducted Helen and took her to Troy, which led to the Trojan War. The book tells the story of the war and the heroes who fought in it, including Achilles, Hector, and Odysseus. It also includes the famous Trojan Horse, which the Greeks used to infiltrate Troy and win the war. Overall, The Recuyell Of The Historyes Of Troy V2 is a classic tale of love, war, and betrayal, and is an important work in the literary canon of Middle English literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
