The Washington Football Team are a professional football team that competes in the National Football League (NFL). Established in 1932 as the Boston Braves, the team changed its name to the 'Redskins' the following year, and moved to Washington D.C. in 1937. In July 2020, following increasing pressure from fans and sponsors, the Washington Redskins announced that they would change their name, as the term 'Redskins' was seen as disrespectful toward Native Americans and other people of color. The team named itself the "Washington Football Team" until the announcement of an official new name at a later date. The team won two NFL championships in the pre-Super Bowl era and has won the Super Bowl three times. American businessman Daniel Marc Snyder is currently the majority owner of the Washington Team.
