At first glance there may appear little to connect the ancient city of Oxford with the town of Wolverton North Buckinghamshire, but since Dr John Radcliffe purchased the manor in 1713 the relationship grew deeper. Dr Radcliffe became a major benefactor to the university and some of its iconic buildings, such as the Radcliffe Camera, were supported by income from Wolverton.
