Vineyards of Honey is a collection of my inner contemplations expressed through rhyming verses. I chose the title early in the process after it downloaded into my awareness and I knew it was what this book would be named. It didn't make logical sense, and I loved that it would invite the imagination of each reader to play with the words and decipher their own meaning. As I wrote more poems, and researched the symbolism of vineyards I found that in the bible some interpret them as a representation of the anger and judgement of God. This made me fall even more in love with this title. This book is largely an exploration of anger and self-expression, exploring a healthy alchemisation of our anger at an individual and collective level. This anger has been building over generations as its expression has been shamed and misunderstood. And when I think of honey, I think sweet, sticky, messy and beautiful. As I explored different themes and stories of anger, the mess became beautiful, the shame was sweetened, and the stickiness became a pleasurable experience.
Take each poem as a transmission of energy, there are layers of depth and meaning within each. Pause between each poem to allow the transmission to permeate your body and mind. gently sit with whatever gets stirred up and into your awareness. as the real magic will come from within you. Often we need time to allow things to percolate before the insights effortlessly overflow.
Enjoy your journey through the vineyards of honey.
Love,
Rachel
