Set in the harsh Central Desert Region of Western Australia in the 1890s. Follow the upbringing of an aboriginal boy, Walmatjarri, from ten years of age to adulthood. Learn of his tribal initiation from boyhood to warrior status. Absorb the pain and trauma he suffered when the receiver of a pay-back punishment ritual, by spearing, as meted out by fellow tribesmen.
His contact and involvement with non-aboriginal miners encroaching into tribal lands in search of gold had a dramatic effect on his way of life. His love for a young aboriginal girl and his brush with the white man's law resulted in him being on the run from both the black and white lawmakers.
