After losing communications during an off-the-books operation, Army Rangers Lieutenant Jason Stafford and Sergeant Miga Raines lead a squadron of soldiers back to mainland America. In their efforts to return to Fort Moore, they discover that a ravenous plague has spread across the globe.
As the losses mount, they learn some of the horrific truths about this dreaded airborne virus—including the fact that, for some unknown reason, children are not infected while almost the entire adult population succumbs and craves human flesh.
The novella follows the military unit as well as a group of four surviving children. The children are rescued from the streets and taken to a secured building with others close to their age. Upon learning of the sheltered children, the squadron responds to the plea to defend the structure from the chronic onslaught of the undead.
Zombie Squadron follows some of the standard undead tropes, but it contains some unusual twists and variations to give it a fresh feel – or feed.
