Description

Cathay is a collection of poems written by the American poet Ezra Pound and published in 1915. The book is a translation of Chinese poetry, specifically the works of Li Po, Tu Fu, and other poets from the Tang Dynasty. Pound's translations were among the first to introduce Chinese poetry to the Western world, and his work has since been recognized as a major influence on modernist poetry. The poems in Cathay are characterized by their spare, imagistic language and their focus on nature, love, and the transience of life. The book includes some of Pound's most famous translations, such as ""The River-Merchant's Wife: A Letter"" and ""In a Station of the Metro."" Overall, Cathay is a landmark work of poetry translation and a significant contribution to the development of modernist poetry. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
