Cassie has been reunited with her sister, Liv, but after six months stuck in the Nether together, she finds herself longing for her old life and to see Ash again. They have a shot at a real future together, but with Liv unable to let go of what happened to their mother, Cassie cannot leave her. Liv wants to find out the truth about how their mother died. Was it a simple Drow attack? Or something more?

Torn between family and duty, Cassie is offered a new case by the enforcers. While she is happy to be working with Ash again, they find that the case leads them back to the Nether. As she digs deeper, she soon discovers that Liv might be right. There is more to their mother's death.
