John Barleycorn was written by Jack London (1876-1916) and was first published in 1913. The title is taken from the British folk song of the same name.
It is an autobiographical memoir focusing on London's enjoyment of alcohol, his experiences and struggles with alcoholism and its effects throughout his life.
Jack London was a prolific writer of novels, short stories, non-fiction, autobiographical memoirs, plays and more. Some of his most famous works include The Call of the Wild, White Fang, The Sea Wolf, The Iron Heel, Martin Eden and The People of the Abyss.
