Basically, what the Paleo Diet proposes is eating like our ancestors – well, not like our parents or grandparents, but like our ancestors way back in the Paleolithic times.
According to this diet plan we should only choose foods that were supposedly available for our ancestors more than one million years ago: vegetables (except potatoes), fruits, nuts, roots, fish and other seafood, eggs, meat and organ meats. Grains, dairy, alcohol, coffee, white sugar and any chemically-processed foods are theoretically excluded.
For example, we could start our day having some fruit, then have a grilled pork steak and artichokes for lunch, while salmon and avocado would make up our dinner. Fresh and dried fruit and berries, nuts, light vegetables or quail eggs are good for snacking on.
