"In Passionate Christianity, Susan Ellis stands with the great revivalist John Wesley, in reminding us that true renewal is only found in returning to that which is old; in passionately pursuing the timeless rather than being distracted by the temporal; in setting aside the fashionable and humbly submitting to the eternal Word of God." - Everett Piper, PhD. President, Oklahoma Wesleyan University
While spiritual complacency leading to apathy may not be unique to modern Christianity, it is viewed in Scripture as a serious problem that must be addressed in every generation. Matthew spoke of this spiritual lethargy in his gospel account. Paul warned about a great falling away in his second letter to the Thessalonians. Jesus cautioned believers against the dangers of indifference in His letters to the seven churches. Even a cursory look at the history of Israel reveals the cycle of returning and living for God, only to fall away again.
This lesson series addresses this important issue in a way that helps believers reclaim their 'first love' for Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. The study is practical, uplifting, and rooted in Scripture.
