Description

Piper species have found medicinal uses in all parts of the world and are ingredient in the formulation of Ayurveda.Piper species are known to be a rich source of Piper amides and their derivatives, hence species carry potent pharmaceutical properties like: diuretic, carminative, stimulant, etc. Therefore, it is one of the most important genera for its biological potentials and their useful products are emerging in market daily and even exported and thus, there is an urgent need to check their quality, safety and efficacy.Still Piper lacks any systematic study on the primary and secondary metabolites with reference to their standardization and markers and hence, the work on the validation and scientific authentication of Piper sps. in terms of Macroscopic, microscopic, phytochemical, bioactive, tlc, hplc and nmr markers were generated to evaluate various adulterants from its genuine sample for safe use as Herbal Monograph.
