Quality Sobriety Volume Four is the beginning of how the Psalms speak on the reverential factor of remaining sober. Quality Sobriety Volume Four is more progressive than any of the other series of Quality Sobriety. One chapter naturally flows into the other providing us with some of the most intricate details of the value of reverence to sobriety. Quality Sobriety Volume Four starts by asking who's on the throne. Whoever or whatever is on the throne is guaranteed to determine how we react to addictions. It not only determines whether we will become addicted but how we will react if we do. The throne is your heart. Heart failure accounts for addiction. Our hearts need to be guided and protected by God to function well. The heart and the soul are one. Peter warns us to "abstain from fleshly lust which wages war against your souls" (1 Peter 2:11). God doesn't want our hearts and souls to be damaged. Reverence is the motivating factor that will give us the greatest strength to be unmoveable in our duty. Those who are fit for duty because of their reverence stand with one another producing fruit that is pleasing to God. Reverential sobriety builds communities while addictions destroy. The Psalms teach us that quality sobriety gives us hope. the secret is found in being friends with God. The highest quality of sobriety enjoys the excellency of God. As will consider His excellency, we have reason to reverence God. Not only that the friendship that we form with God gives us mutuality. As God is special to us, we receive special care. The effort that is need to acquire quality sobriety must be intentional. Quality sobriety humbles itself to the teaching of God.
Quality Sobriety uncovers a wide range of topics. If I were to elaborate, then it would take another book. It's a shame that our biblical resources on addictions were so puny until about 20 years ago. A lot of the topics in this volume may be discussed by others. Some of the topics are scarce.
