In this published lecture, Professor Senia Paseta argues that our understanding of modern Irish and British politics would be enormously enriched if we recognized both that the Irish and British suffrage movements were deeply connected; and that the Irish Question fundamentally shaped the women's suffrage movement across the UK from the late nineteenth century and into the twentieth. The movement did not exist in a vacuum, but rather interacted with other key political questions of the day, including Ireland.
