DO YOU KNOW THE STORY OF BRUCE MCLAREN AND HIS TEAM THAT CAME TO DOMINATE FORMULA 1?
In these pages you will discover or remember the origins of Mclaren, the team that Bruce himself created to continue his career in Formula 1. When Bruce McLaren created his own team to compete in Formula 1, he probably didn't know that he would end up creating one of the most legendary teams in the world's greatest motor racing competition.
In 1966, the Bruce McLaren Motor Racing team debuted in the competition, achieving its first victory two years later. However, in 1970 a fatal accident took the magnificent Bruce from us. Instead of disappearing after the loss of its founder, the McLaren team continued in the competition achieving its first great triumph thanks to the talent of the Brazilian Emerson Fittipaldi.
Aboard a McLaren, James Hunt starred in one of the most spectacular seasons of Formula 1 in his confrontation with Niki Lauda's Ferrari in 1976. But it was Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna, teammates and eternal rivals on the track, who led McLaren to become the most powerful team in Formula 1.
McLaren was no longer able to dominate as it did between 1988 and 1991, but its goal was always to be at the top of the competition, and drivers like Mika Häkkinen and Lewis Hamilton proved that a McLaren was always to be feared on the racetrack.
Although its recent past is somewhat dark, the history of this great team has shown that McLaren will always have a reserved place among the best teams in Formula 1.
