A serial killer is on the loose and Nicodemus Smith realizes that he is killing along a lay line that divides San Francisco in two. Whatever took them Dreamside was powerful enough to subdue thirteen disciplined minds and actually kill the class instructor. The victims' physical conditions are deteriorating rapidly in spite of their being on life support putting her on a short clock, but Nic's chance Dreamside encounter with the Meridian Killer changes her plans.
