In the late 19th century, Faddoul Moghabghab, a Syrian Christian, began traveling throughout the U.S. lecturing and preaching on Syrian customs and traditions, with a focus on his interpretation of the 23rd Psalm from the perspective of a Syrian shepherd. His experience as a shepherd in the lands of our Lord Jesus Christ offers a unique look at, and adds depth to, the most well-known Psalm of the Bible. This volume includes an essay written by William Allen Knight, "The Song of Our Syrian Guest," first published in 1904, telling of a wonderful evening spent with Mr. Moghabghab. Knight's essay contains many of the same insights fleshed out in Moghabghab, but adds a more personal look at the gentle shepherd behind the words.
