"Tom Swift in the City of Gold" is the 11th volume in the Tom Swift novel series. The plot revolves around Tom receiving a message about a hidden underground city filled with gold in Mexico. Tom, along with his companions Ned Newton, Mr. Damon, and Eradicate, embark on a journey to find the city. However, they are pursued by Andy Foger and his father, who want to steal the treasures. In Mexico, they hire a team of Mexicans who also want to find the city. Tom's group accidentally seals themselves in the city but is eventually released by their enemies. They manage to escape with a large amount of gold before the city is flooded. The story features various characters, including Tom's rival Andy Foger and his father, as well as the Head Hunters, legendary guards of the city. Tom continues to improve his airship designs throughout the book. The central gold statue in the city has a warning carved on its pedestal in an ancient language.
