This is the second edition of this text. Civil disturbances are an all too common occurrence. These events may become violent resulting in traditional traumatic injuries to responders, participants, and innocent bystanders. These incidents may also cause injuries from other, less common causes including lasers, fireworks, and exposure to gas, smoke, and sometimes bodily fluids and substances. The Casualty Care for Civil Disturbances (CCC-D) Book and educational program describes these various injuries and reviews their management. This book and the course are appropriate for all public safety responders, especially law enforcement, who may be asked to respond to, and intervene at, civil disturbances.
