EXPO Milan 2015 is about Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. The United Nations presence at EXPO is anchored in the Zero Hunger Challenge, issued by UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon.
This book celebrates EXPO by trying to help people under-stand how hunger can be cnded quickly and how the world can feed itself sustainably.
Many people think that ending hunger is impossible. We take the opposite view - that it is simple and that, if governments do what we suggest, it won't cost bags of money.
Ending hunger will overcome one of the great injustices of our time by stopping the needless suffering of over 800 million people. It will create prosperity where it is most needed - in the poorest communities. And the world will be more peaceful, for hunger sows the seeds of conflict.
We can all play our part in ending hunger and making future food supplies sustainable. This way, the Earth will be a better and safer place for our children - and for their children !
« This book contains truths too important to dismiss, but it is also a book of visionaries... And it is a call for change that we can only ignore at our own peril », Olivier De Schutter (Former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food)
« This little book offers an easy and pleasant read. It makes concrete proposals, some of which run counter to conventional approaches »,
